A short documentary about John Gaughan, the Los Angeles illusion builder, and his restoration of Antonio Diavolo, the trapeze acrobat automaton built by Jean-Eugène Robert-Houdin in the 1840s. Directed and produced by Eros Zhao.
Premiered at the Magic Castle and screened at AutomataCon 2026 at the Morris Museum. Shot in Los Angeles, finished at Company 3. The frames here are pulled from the final graded master.
