Super 8 wedding films

The day
I shoot weddings like documentaries. I am there from getting ready through the last dance, letting the day be the day rather than staging it. Now and then you hear the quiet, unmistakable sound of film rolling on a future memory, and by dinner most people have forgotten I am there. I have worked alongside Michael Silvano many times, and we move around each other easily.
The film goes to the lab, gets developed and scanned in 4K, sprockets and all. You get a short film cut to a song you love, the complete scans, and a set of still frames pulled straight from the negative.
What it costs
Films start at $4,000. That covers the day, the film stock and processing, the scans, the edit and the stills. Digital coverage of the ceremony and speeches, a second camera, or extra film are add-ons. Travel outside New England and California is billed at cost.

Questions
Why film instead of video?
Nothing else looks like it. The grain, the color and the way light blooms are in the emulsion, not added afterward. Each roll is short, and every shot costs something, so every shot means something. That is a big part of why the finished films feel the way they do.
Is there sound?
Super 8 itself is silent. I record the room, and if you want, the vows and speeches, and cut them under the picture. Most couples also pick a song.
Can you also shoot digital?
Yes. Digital coverage of the ceremony and speeches is available as an add-on.
How do you work with our photographer?
I have spent years working around other cameras on sets and stages, and a wedding is no different. Your photographer runs the portraits and I stay out of their frame. If you are working with Michael Silvano, we already have a rhythm.
Do you travel?
Yes. I split time between Boston and Los Angeles, so there is no travel fee in New England or California. Anywhere else is billed at cost.
